Students, academics, authors, actors and journalists will participate in the 4th International Student Conference “Georgios Vizyinos. The Road to Istanbul” in order to approach the life and work of the great Greek novelist, poet and scholar Georgios Vizyinos. The conference will take place in Zografeion Lyceum, Istanbul, from March 12 to 15.
The conference is organized by Zografeion Lyceum and Mandoulides Schools of Thessaloniki, under the auspices of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The student conference will be opened by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and will include presentations by distinguished scientists and students, as well as discussions focusing on Vizyinos’ work. Sixteen public and private schools, and about 300 students and teachers from Greece, Cyprus, the U.S. and Turkey will participate in the student conference.
Meanwhile, several other events will also take place, such as a screening of Lakis Papastathis’ film “The Only Journey of His Life,” which will be presented by the director himself at the Greek Consulate’s Sismanoglio building. A discussion between students and award-winning authors will take place onboard a ferry travelling in Bosporus, and an art exhibition by Athens School of Fine Arts Painting Department students with works inspired by the life and work of Vizyinos.
